Little Stars Visit the Father’s Day Stall

Today we had an exciting day at Little Stars as we visited the Father’s Day stall!

We all brought money in and could choose something to buy for our dads or someone special for Father’s Day. A big thank you to all the parent volunteers who were able to help with the stall, it was such a wonderful experience for our Little Stars to be involved in.

We wish all the Dads a very happy and special Father’s Day on Sunday!

Visiting the Gym

Today in Little Stars we visited the Gym! It was great to see where we will have our PE lessons once we are big school kids! We got to have a run, skip and gallop around the gym. These are all movements patterns children who are starting school need to practice and develop.

In group time we read ‘The Very Hungry Bear’, had a go with some gross motor activities that help make our bodies fit and strong and also made something special for Father’s Day (but shhhhhh it’s a secret!!!!)

Talking about the Olympics!

We had a very busy session at Little Stars this week. First we went to watch the Nativity School Assembly. It was great to see the Year 1 students up on the stage!

Then we talked about the Olympics. We made our own Gold Medals and then printed the Olympic rings using paint and cylinders. We wrote our names on our medals and also on our Olympic rings poster. We used scissors to cut our Gold Medals out. We are going to keep practicing how to write our names and how to use scissors properly.

Learning about Lambs!

This week in Little Stars we had 3 special ‘woolly’ visitors…. 3 little lambs!

Elijah’s family brought in 3 very cute lambs called Blossom, Little Man and Ralph to share with the class today. The lambs normally live at Elijah’s grandparent’s farm and we were lucky enough to pat and cuddle them today.

We carried on with a ‘sheep’ theme for our other activities inside the classroom and the children enjoyed singing and viewing ‘Mary had a little lamb’ on the Smartboard and reading ‘Where is the Green Sheep’ and making cotton wool sheep during group time.

Week 2 Visiting the Library!

Today in Little Stars we visited our Campus Library. We saw lots of picture books and we all chose one to bring back to our Little Stars classroom.

We also drew self-portraits using a mirror to look at our own faces carefully and practised writing our names on the little whiteboards during group time.

Welcome to Little Stars 2016!

We would like to welcome all our new Little Stars and their families!

We had such a wonderful first session on Friday last week and I am so proud of all the children and how they settled into the session!

It was a busy morning! One of the focuses we had in our first session was ordering the letters in our name using building blocks. Each block had a letter from our name on it and our task was to build our name.

I was also very proud of all the parents, it is a big event sending your child along to school or Little Stars for the first time and I want to thank all the parents that were able to stay for morning tea, hopefully you were able to make a few new connections with other families.

We can’t wait to see you all again on Friday!file-2 DSC02579 DSC02580 DSC02582 DSC02584 DSC02595

Preparing for the Book Week Parade

IMG_0550 IMG_0549 IMG_0548 IMG_0547 IMG_0545 IMG_0544During our last Little Stars session, we were very busy preparing for the Book Week parade. We listened to the story ‘Where is the green sheep?’ again, this time on the Smartboard. We then got started on making our ‘sheep headbands’ which we will be wearing to the parade. We look forward to seeing all of the different types of sheep that arrive at Little Stars tomorrow and are so excited that we can be a part of this whole Campus event!

Welcome to our 2015 Little Stars

A very warm welcome to all of our new Little Stars and their families. We had our first session last Friday and what a busy morning it was!! We sang our ‘Good morning’ song, visited the early years classrooms in the Bartram building, played on the playground, listened to a story and had the opportunity to play with and make new friends. We were so impressed with how well the children all settled into the Little stars room and we are looking forward to seeing you all again on Friday!
